Facebook has rolled out a Recommendations Bar that will help users find content their friends have Liked and shared on the social network. On its Developer blog, Facebook’s Jeffrey Spehar reported that the new feature is aimed at curating relevant content users may not otherwise notice on the site. When a user Likes a piece of content on the site, it is sent back to his news feed to where friends can see it. The Recommendations Bar will function the same way as the news feed, but adds a specific column for Liked content. With so much information posted to the site, organizing this information in a different manner can help people find the links more quickly. In an early test of some partner sites, including Mashable, Facebook saw that the new page layout results in three times as much engagement for content.
